About Us - Logo

Acumen Integrat

Acumen comes from the Latin word acumen, which literally means point. Acumen represents keenness and depth of perception, discernment, the ability to make good judgements.

Integrat comes from the Latin word integratus and it stands for something that is formed or blended, incorporated into a functioning unified whole.

People . Systems . Technology

Our work is about improving the way organisations operate. The triangle formed by people, systems and technology represents the basis on which organisational excellence can be built.

The sphere in a cylinder

The story behind the logo comes from an ancient discovery made by Archimedes, who proved that the sphere has two thirds of the volume and surface of the cylinder circumscribing it. To us it symbolises discovery and scientific knowledge, theory applied in practice, all these contributing to the achievement of organizational excellence.

Guided by both theory and practice we aim to integrate in organizations not only management systems, but to do this through involving our customers in a journey of discovery and learning, giving the entire implementation process a substantial added value.

We have chosen sphere and cylinder as a symbol for our company to emphasize those core beliefs that guide our work and approach.

4πr2 / 6πr2 and Archimedes

Born in Sicily in 287 BC, Archimedes is considered the greatest mathematician and physicist in the ancient world.

In geometry, he is especially important for the discovery of the relation between the surface and volume of a sphere and its circumscribing cylinder. Archimedes had proved that the sphere has two thirds of the volume and surface area of the cylinder (including the bases of the latter) and regarded this as the greatest of his achievements. He was so proud of the discovery of this ratio that he requested that his tombstone be decorated with a sphere contained in the smallest possible cylinder and inscribed with the ratio of the cylinder's volume to that of the sphere.

For us, Arhimedes simbolises the continous pursuit of scientific discovery and the use of scientific principles to inform practice.
